Strategic Thinking for Tomorrow: Navigating Information in a Digital World – Blended Intensive Programme in Information Science

Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu is hosting the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Strategic Thinking for Tomorrow: Navigating Information in a Digital World”, an international academic initiative dedicated to Master’s students in Information Science.

The program brings together participants from six European partner universities: Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (Romania), Gustave Eiffel University (France), University of Iceland, University of Coimbra (Portugal), University of Ankara (Turkey).

The BIP focuses on current and emerging priorities in Library and Information Science (LIS), addressing topics such as curriculum innovation, digital skills for green technology, artificial intelligence in LIS, misinformation and digital citizenship, urban information networks, digital humanities, open knowledge ecosystems, and technological trends shaping libraries and information services.

The program is structured as a blended learning experience, combining an 18-hour virtual component (November 2025 – January 2026) with a physical mobility week in Sibiu, taking place from 19 to 23 January 2026. During the online phase, students work in mixed international groups, participate in supervised sessions, and attend academic lectures delivered by the teaching staff from partner institutions.

The in-person component concludes with a final symposium, where student teams present and defend their collaborative projects in front of peers and teachers. Assessment is carried out by both academic staff and peers, and successful participants are awarded 3 or 4 ECTS credits, recognized by the partner universities.

Through its academic content and collaborative format, the program promotes international cooperation, intercultural exchange, and strategic thinking, preparing future information professionals to navigate the technological, ethical, and societal challenges of the digital world.
