4th FORTHEM Innovative Pedagogy Symposium
Between 2023 and 2025, the FORTHEM Think Tank for Innovative Learning and Teaching focused each year on a specific thematic priority, identified through FORTHEM-wide surveys. Each phase culminated in an expert symposium dedicated to exploring these themes in depth.
Unlike the previous three editions, this year’s symposium will be held online (via MS Teams) to enable broader participation. As the current FORTHEM funding period is coming to an end, the 2026 edition will adopt a reflective, retrospective format, revisiting and critically engaging with the key topics of the past years.
The online symposium will take place from 27-29 May 2026, with each day dedicated to one of the overarching themes:
- 27 May: Project-based Learning (2023)
- 28 May: Future Skills in Higher Education (2024)
- 29 May: AI in Higher Education (2025)
What to expect:
Each day of the symposium will feature thematic contributions by FORTHEM academics. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions and take part in interactive activities (see preliminary programme). Sessions will be scheduled around midday and will last approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours, including breaks. This format is designed to allow for flexible “hop-on / hop-off” participation.
Participants are welcome to attend the full symposium or join individual days or specific sessions according to their interests.
Registration:
FORTHEM academics, students, and administrative staff members can register via the following link until 26 May, 15:00 CET.
A maximum of 200 people can attend the event. Registered participants will receive MS Teams links to join the online event in the afternoon of 26 May.
